“The Inevitable Anguish of Desire” by Marie Denise Dessimoz is an honest and introspective reflection on the transformation of emotions. Through her artistic practice, Maria-Denise learns to navigate her inner world, confronting unfulfilled desires, darkness and emptiness. With her imagery and textures, she gains clarity and acceptance, capturing and alchemising complex feelings. For her, photographs have the power to give voice to the subconscious. Thus, this project in an intimate dialogue with the artist’s mental health and healing journey, evolving into a visual diary created with different tools, including digital and analog cameras, computers, and phones. Some of Maria Denise's works emerge spontaneously, while others are shaped by visions from her dreams. Ultimately, the book embodies a profound sense of self-belonging, rooted in self-awareness, as the artist realizes that pain turns into light.
